Translations and localisations

“Translation is not a matter of words only: it is a matter of making intelligible a whole culture”

Anthony Burgess

In the translation of a text of any kind, mere linguistic preparation is not sufficient. It must be complemented by in-depth knowledge of the foreign audience culture. This is fundamental in order to carry on a "localisation" of the text, that is the process of adapting a text to the culture related to the language of the translation. This process is a necessary step to meet the expectations of the new audience and to convey the meaning of the original text as faithfully as possible.

Since 2009 I have been carrying out translations of websites, texts, and documents in different sectors, for both companies and individuals.

Among the types of texts and documents I have been translating in different sectors:

• contracts;

• CVs;

• forms;

• informative booklets;

• leaflets and advertising material;

• reports;

• technical sheets for products and machinery;
• websites;

• wine and food menus.
